Statement of Faith

  1. Doctrine of the Scriptures
    1. We believe that the Bible is wholly inspired by God. God superintended human writers so that using their own personalities they composed and recorded without error God’s Revelation to man, in the words of the original manuscript.
    2. We believe in the verbal plenary inspiration of the Bible. Every word in the original manuscripts was spoken (given) by God and recorded without error.
    3. We believe that the Bible is made up of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament.
    4. We believe God has and will preserve His Word for this present time and forever.
    5. We believe the Bible is the believer’s sole authority of faith and practice.
    6. II Timothy 3:16,17; II Peter 1:19-21; John 10:35; Matthew 24:35; John 20:30,31; John 17:17.
  2. Doctrine of God
    1. We believe in one God (Deuteronomy 6:4), eternally existing in three persons – The Father, The Son, The Holy Spirit – co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfections of deity.
    2. Matthew 3:16,17, 28:19; I Corinthians 12:4-6; II Corinthians 13:14; Ephesians 4:4-6, 5:18-20;I Peter 1:2; Jude 20,21, Psalm 12:6,7.
  3. Doctrine of Christ
    1. We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. Matthew 16:16, 26:61-64a, 14:33, 17:5; Psalm 2:7.
    2. We believe that He became man without ceasing to be God. Matthew 1:23; Philippians 2:7,8; Galatians 4:4; Colossians 1:15; I Timothy 3:16.
    3. We believe that He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Luke 1:35; Matthew 1:16,18,20,23; Isaiah 7:14; Micah 5:2.
    4. We believe that He came to this earth to:
      1. reveal God to men – John 1:18
      2. to redeem sinful men by His blood – Hebrews 10:1-10; Matthew 1:21, 20:28
    5. We believe in the atoning death of Jesus on the cross of Calvary – Romans 3:24, 5:6; Galatians 4:4,5; Hebrews 9:24-28; I Peter 3:18.
    6. We believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ – Psalm 16:9; Matthew 28:1-10; Luke 18:33; John 2:19-22; Romans 4:24,25, 6:4,5,9; I Corinthians 15.
    7. We believe in the ascension of Christ from the earth to Heaven. Psalm 68:18; Mark 16:19;Luke 24:50,51; Acts 1:9-11; Ephesians 1:20; I Timothy 3:16.
    8. We believe in the present exaltation of Christ as He is seated at the right hand of God as our High Priest (Hebrews 1:3, 4:14, 6:20, 7:26) fulfilling the ministries of:
      1. Representative (I John 2:1)
      2. Intercessor (Hebrews 7:25, 9:24)
      3. Advocate (Romans 8:34).
  4. Doctrine of The Holy Spirit
    1. We believe in the Person of the Holy Spirit. I Corinthians 2:10,11, 12:11; Ephesians 4:30; John 16:13,14, 15:26, 16:7,8.
    2. We believe in the Deity of the Holy Spirit. I Corinthians 2:10,11; Psalm 139:7; Genesis 1:2; I John 5:6; Luke 11:13; Romans 8:2; Acts 5:3,4.
    3. We believe that He has come to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgment. John 16:8-11.
    4. We believe that He regenerates, (imparts the new life to the believer) at the moment of salvation. Titus 3:5; John 3:3-7.
    5. We believe that all believers are baptized into the body of Christ at the moment of salvation, by the Holy Spirit. I Corinthians 12:12-14; Galatians 3:27.
    6. We believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, I Corinthians 12:11, some of which are active today.
      1. Permanent Gifts: Evangelism – Ephesians 4:11; Pastor-Teacher – Ephesians 4:11; Ministry – Romans 12:7; Exhortation – Romans 12:8; Showing of Mercy – Romans 12:8; Teacher – Romans 12:7.
      2. Gifts that ceased with the Apostles – Temporary Gifts: Healing – I Corinthians 12:9; Miracles – I Corinthians 12:10; Tongues – I Corinthians 12:10; Interpretation of Tongues – I Corinthians 12:10; Apostles – Ephesians 4:11; Prophecy – Ephesians 4:11.
    7. We believe in the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit during the Church Age. I Corinthians 6:19; John 14:16,17; I John 2:27.
    8. We believe in the filling of the Spirit for the believer during the church age. The filling of the Spirit is to be controlled by him as we yield to him so we may walk by the Spirit, be led by the Spirit and bear the fruit of the Spirit. Ephesians 5:18; Galatians 5:16-25.
    9. We believe in the sealing and earnest of the Holy Spirit until the day of Redemption. Ephesians 1:13,14, 4:30.
  5. Doctrine of Man
    1. We believe that God created the heavens and earth and all life including man without any process of evolution whatsoever. Genesis 1 & 2; Colossians 1:16,17; John 1:3.
      1. We believe that God created the heavens and earth and all life as recorded in Genesis.
      2. In six literal 24 hour days and on the seventh literal 24 hour day God rested.
    2. We believe that God created man in His own image but this image was marred by the fall. As a result:
      1. the human race inherited the sin nature – Romans 3:22,23, 5:12.
      2. became alienated from God – Ephesians 2:12.
      3. is totally depraved – Psalm 14:3; Isaiah 53:6, 64:6; Acts 8:23; Romans 3:9-12.
      4. cannot help himself – Galatians 5:17; Ephesians 2:1-3.
  6. Doctrine of Salvation
    1. We believe that salvation is only by faith in the person and completed work of Christ – John 1:12; Acts 16:31; Romans 10:9-13; not of works – Ephesians 2:8,9; Titus 3:5-7.
    2. We believe that Jesus’ death is unlimited in value – He died for all men – I John 2:2; II Corinthians 5:19.
    3. We believe that Jesus’ death is effective only to the elect – those whom God calls to believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior. Acts 13:48; Romans 8:27-30.
    4. We believe in the justification of the believer that God declares the believer righteous before God; set free from the guilt and condemnation of their sin. Romans 3:21-28; Romans 4:5; Romans 5:1.
    5. We believe in the adoption of the believer; that the believer is placed into the family of God as an adult son of God, receiving all the inheritance, privileges, promises of a son of God.Galatians 4:4-7; Romans 8:14-17.
    6. We believe in the sanctification of the believer; positional, set apart from sin unto God and his righteousness at the time of salvation; progressive, being set apart unto God as we grow and mature in our daily lives; and ultimate fully matured and set apart unto God which will take place in his presence. I Corinthians 1:1-2; 6:9-11; John 17:17; II Corinthians 7:1; I Thessalonians 4:1-7, 5:23.
    7. We believe in the eternal security of the believer – John 6:37-40, 10:27-30; Romans 8:1, 35-39; I Corinthians 1:4-8; I Peter 1:5; Ephesians 1:13, 14, 4:30.
  7. Doctrine of Angels
    1. We believe in the existence and personality of Angels – Hebrews 1:14.
    2. We believe that they carry on a vital ministry to God, Christ, Believers, The Nations, unbelievers. Matthew 4:11; Hebrews 1:14; I Corinthians 4:9; Daniel 10:21; Acts 12:23; Matthew 13:35.
    3. We believe they are spirit beings created by God. Hebrews 1:14.
    4. We believe in the personality of satan, the author of sin. Ezekiel 28:14-19.
    5. We believe that satan fell from his position as a holy angel and drew after him a host of angels who also fell, and satan and the demons are the declared enemies of God. Isaiah 14:12-15; Ezekiel 28:14-19; Revelation 12:9; Ephesians 2:2.
    6. We believe that satan shall be eternally punished in the lake of fire; Isaiah 14:12-17; Matthew 25:41; Revelation 20:10.
  8. Doctrine of the Church
    1. We believe in the universal church, also called the body of Christ, and the Bride of Christ. I Corinthians 12:12-28; Ephesians 5:23-32.
    2. We believe that this church was established by Jesus Christ (Matthew 16:18) who is her head. Ephesians 1:22,23, 2:20-22, 4:15; Colossians 1:18.
    3. We believe that this church was revealed by Christ and the Apostles and is being formed by the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 2:20-22; I Corinthians 12:12,13.
    4. We believe that it is composed of all believers during this present church age from Pentecost (Acts 2:38-41) to the Rapture (II Thessalonians 2:6-8) – Revelation 2 & 3; I Corinthians 12:18,27, 3:11-15; Acts 2:47; Revelation 21:27.
    5. We believe that the New Testament local church is a body of believers, baptized by immersion, who have organized themselves together for the purpose of doing God’s will, glorifying God, and keeping the ordinances, edifying the saints, worship, fellowship, and local and worldwide evangelism. Acts; I Corinthians; Matt. 28:18-20.
    6. We believe in the two offices of Pastor and Deacons as outlined in the following scriptures: I Peter 5:1-4; Titus 1:5-7; I Timothy 3:8-13; Acts 6:1-8.
    7. We believe in two ordinances; baptism, Lord’s Supper. Romans 6:3,5; Acts 2:41, 8:36-39, 20:7; I Corinthians 11:23-26.
    8. We believe that the local church is sovereign in polity, membership, policy, government, (congregational), discipline, benevolence, and association. Matthew 18:15-20.
    9. We believe that the local church is the organization established by God for this dispensation, and is the foundation from which and through which, God carries out His program for today. Acts 2:41-47; 13:1-3; 14:23,26, 27.
    10. We believe in separation of church and state, Acts 5:29; Matthew 22:21.
      1. that civil government is of divine appointment – Romans 13:1.
      2. that we are to pray for, honor and obey our government and it’s laws; except where these laws may be contrary to the Word of God. I Timothy 2:1-3; Romans 13:1-7; Acts 5:29.
      3. that civil government is to have no control over, or any interference with, the church.
      4. that the church is to have no control over, or be involved in, the operation of civil government on any level. Matthew 22:21.
    11. We believe in personal and ecclesiastical separation from sin, apostasy, liberalism, and the National and World Council of Churches. II Corinthians 6:14-7:1; I Thessalonians 5:22; Romans 6:11-13; Romans 16:17-20; Galatians 1:6-9; II Timothy 3:1-5; II John 7-11.
  9. Doctrine of Future Events
    1. We believe in the pre-tribulation rapture of the church; Jesus Christ coming in the air for His church before the Tribulation. Revelation 3:10; II Thessalonians 2; Revelation 6:17; I Thessalonians 1:10, 5:6,9.
    2. We believe in the Judgement Seat of Christ after the rapture, where believers will be judged according to their works. I Corinthians 3:11-15; II Corinthians 5:10.
    3. We believe that immediately following the Rapture is the seven year tribulation period here upon this earth. Daniel 9:27; Revelation 11:23.
    4. We believe that the tribulation is God’s judgement poured out upon the earth because of unbelief and sin. Revelation 6:15-17, 8:9,16; Matthew 24:21.
    5. We believe the tribulation is to prepare the nation of Israel for their Messiah. Jeremiah 30:8-10; Malachi 4:5-6.
    6. We believe that the nation of Israel will return to their land, build their temple, be persecuted by the anti-christ and his armies. Matthew 24:9,22; Revelation 12:17.
    7. We believe in the pre-millennial Second Coming of Christ. Jesus Christ coming to the earth with His Church at the end of the Tribulation. Revelation 19:11-21; 20.
    8. We believe in the Judgement of the Nations at the Second Coming of Christ for their treatment of Israel. Matthew 25:31-46; Joel 3:2.
    9. We believe in the judgement of Israel at the Second Coming of Christ concerning their acceptance or rejection of the Messiah. Ezekiel 20:37,38.
    10. We believe in the literal millennial reign of Christ here upon this earth following the Tribulation. Revelation 20:4-6.
    11. We believe that satan will be bound and in the bottomless pit during the 1,000 year reign of Christ. Revelation 20:1-3, 7-10.
    12. We believe in the Judgement of fallen angels, satan, and demons, after the millennium for their disobedience to God. Jude 6; I Corinthians 6:3; Revelation 20:10.
    13. We believe in the Great White Throne Judgment, after the millennium where all unsaved people will be judged for their rejection of the Savior and their works; and will be cast into the lake of fire forever. Revelation 20:11-15.
    14. We believe in a literal hell where all unredeemed people will spend eternity with satan and his angels. Matthew 25:41; Luke 16:23-24; Revelation 20:12-15.
    15. We believe in the literal heaven, where all redeemed people will spend eternity with the Lord. John 14:1-3; I Thessalonians 4:17.
