- Missions Conference:
Biannually in October we as a church give a weekend focus on missions. This runs from Friday through Sunday Evening with multiple services, interactive learning opportunities, fellowship times, and meals. The missionaries are able to set up the building like their field and take us into their ministry context. We often have a game night, desert night, and evening cookout. Our goal is to be challenged in the Word of God and build relationships with our missionaries learning from their passion and faith.
- Bible Conference:
The opposite year from the Missions Conference we hold a Biannual Bible Conference. This is a weekend focused in God’s word on a single topic for our growth from Friday evening through Sunday evening. We include a desert night, and Saturday night dinner along with biblical sessions for growth. We have tackled “Biblical Marriage and Divorce,” “Christian Worldview” with Ken Ham and the Creation Center, and a study on Church and Individual Outreach with Bill Jenkins (President of Continental Baptist Missions).
- Family Fun Fair:
This event is held on Halloween night from 6:30-8:30 and is a night full of games, prizes, crafts, snacks, and candy. Our Awana program hosts this event each year.
- Awana Events:
Throughout the Awana year, we have many opportunities for our parents to share in Awana. These include a Pancake dinner, a Spaghetti dinner, the Awana Grand Prix, and other partial night events such as pie eating contests, pie in the face prize night, Awards ceremonies etc.
- Dryden Dairy Days:
We sometimes participate in our Town’s annual Dairy day parade and town park gathering. Look for us the Second Saturday in June on the parade route and our booth in Montgomery Park. We have games for the children, water for all, and literature about our Lord.
- Movie Nights:
Periodically we show strong biblical movies which strengthen faith and share the truth of salvation. This is open to the community and our goal as a church is to share God’s love. This is done in our auditorium with a large screen and sound system. Recently we have shown movies such as:
Fire Proof, Grace Card, Letters to God, The Secret Life of Jonathan Sperry, Mercy Rule and others.
- Musical Concerts:
Periodically we host musical events at the church which are open to all with no charge. Our goal is to be a blessing in the community and share a consistent testimony for Christ. We have hosted the Groton Community Choir’s Christmas Cantata, The Puffers, and I Worship1.
- Worship in the Park:
Each Summer we choose one Sunday to gather for worship at a local park. We have held services at Treman Park in Ithaca and plan to continue the tradition at Montgomery Park in Dryden. This is an opportunity to enjoy God’s creation, share our christian relationships, and grow closer together as God’s people.
- Harvest Dinner:
Each Fall in advance of Thanksgiving, we share a Harvest Dinner. The dinner is followed by a time of Thanksgiving, Testimony, and Music.
- Fellowship Meals:
During the winter months of January and February, we stay after our morning service to share in a dish-to-pass meal. This is followed by a devotional time.
- Sunday School Picnic:
During the summer, we celebrate our Sunday School program. We head to Dryden Lake after the morning Worship Service and use the pavilion for a fellowship meal with games to follow and music to end the afternoon.
As a church we associate with the Empire State Fellowship of Regular Baptist Churches. Throughout the year there are a variety of events bringing churches together from across NY State centered on their fellowship in Christ.
- Men’s Adventure:
Each year DBC participates in the Men’s Adventure which is a weekend Men’s conference held in Binghamton NY at Central Baptist Church. Well known speakers and musical groups encourage and strengthen the men who attend in God’s Word. This is scheduled for the third Friday and Saturday in February each year.
- Ladies Advance:
The Ladies Advance gathers women from across the state in celebration of their savior with the goal of spiritual growth. There are many workshops and main sessions that will both encourage and chalange the attendees in their faith. This is now held in October at First Baptist Church in Johnson City NY.
- Youth Seminars:
Several Youth Seminars are held each spring across the state at participating churches. Thousands of teens participate and are challenged in growth focused workshops. A central theme is used for the main sessions and the teens celebrate their faith in worship and are challenged in their Christian stand with God’s Word.
The ESF holds three conferences throughout the year focused on solid biblical teaching and building networking relationships across the churches of the state. There is a Fall, Winter, and Spring conference that all are welcome to attend. Details and dates will be found in the calendar.
- Holiday Getaway Couples Retreat:
Each December the Holiday Getaway is a good after Christmas gift or vacation. Couples from Empire State Fellowship churches join together at the Radison in Corning to grow in their relationships. Activities are used for fun and growth and the speaker brings biblically centered truth with regard to marriage and living love. Meals are provided and the fellowship is valuable.
