Our Beliefs
Doctrine of Scripture – We believe that the 66 books of the Bible were Spirit written words from God which relate to all aspects of life and godliness. Through the Spirit, believers are able to learn and grow into Christ as we learn more about God and His will for us.
Doctrine of Christ – Jesus Christ is the second person of the Trinity who also become fully man when He was born from the virgin Mary. Therefore, Jesus Christ is fully God and man. Jesus Christ fulfilled the Law of God and satisfied God’s wrath when He died on the cross for the sins of the world. When Jesus Christ rose from the dead – through the power of the Father, Son, and Spirit – He conquered sin and death and no offers salvation to all who believe in His gospel.
Doctrine of Man – People were made by the direct act of God – with Adam and Eve being the first male and female. People were made in a sinless state, though Adam’s sin caused all people to be born with a sin nature. People have a beginning but will live eternally in either heaven or hell based upon their acceptance or rejection of the Gospel of Jesus.
Doctrine of Salvation – Salvation is by the grace of God through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. People must believe in Jesus as Savior through the work of the Spirit in order to receive forgiveness of sin. Salvation secures the believer eternally through the seal of the Spirit. Salvation begins the journey of becoming more like Jesus which will conclude when all believers are brought into the presence of God.
Doctrine of God – We believe in the Triune God – the Father, the Son, and the Spirit. All three are one God who have different roles within the created world, and God is eternal – having no beginning and no ending. God must reveal knowledge of Himself to His creation both through His given Word and through the physical world. God has a divine will which happen in His time.
Doctrine of the Spirit – The Spirit is a member of the Triune God who confirms the salvation of the believers and lives within them. The Spirit works to convict the world of their sin and works to grow each believer in sanctification. The Spirit empowers believers to serve God and to know Him more.
Doctrine of Sin – Sin is anything that goes against the nature of God – whether in word, action, or thought. Because of the holiness of God, sin must be punished. Sin, in this world, is pervasive as the world and people look towards the Redeemer to make all things new – whether through the Gospel for believers or through the remaking of the world at the end of time.
Doctrine of the Church – Jesus has established the church – both the universal collection of believers and the local assembly – as a primary means for believers to fellowship, give glory to God, grow in sanctification, and to reach the world for Jesus. Jesus established the office of pastor and deacons to both care for the spiritual well-being and growth of Christians (pastor) and to take care of the physical needs of the believers (deacons). We practice the ordinance of believer’s baptism to announce a Christian’s willingness to represent with the body of Christ and the ordinance of believer’s communion to remember the sacrifice of Jesus.
